In the event of a main PBX failure the hospital will still be able to receive calls on it's main number (723-5161). These calls will ring into the following extensions: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Four people including the switchboard operator and Central Registration personnel will be assigned to these phones where they will be provided with a list of department pagers and the independent phone lines (fax, modem) to various departments. (see Appendix I and II). Those answering incoming calls can instruct the caller to dial the department they want to reach directly by using the department's independent line or pager number. Internal communication can be maintained in most departments by installing a single line phone set on their modem or fax lines. Department to department communication is obtained by calling to the phone numbers listed in Appendix I. Anyone suspecting a failure of the phone system should notify their department director who can verify the problem by checking various extensions around the hospital. Upon verification of the problem, notify Administration and Maintenance, then notify all departments. B.
